Tech Mahindra sees growth opportunities in metaverse; has over 70-80 active deals

A top executive says that Tech Mahindra is building a robust pipeline of metaverse deals. The company is betting big on its uses in the 5G era, says Jagdish Mitra. Even metaverse without a 5G network doesn’t work, he adds. Mitra said Tech Mahindra’s active metaverse deals have brought in order bookings worth “triple-digit millions without divulging.

Tech Mahindra said in October that it was on track to make about $1 billion in FY23 from 5G alone, including Metaverse deals. 5G Tech Mahindra wants to focus on connectivity, engineering, cloud, and sustainability. Mitra: customers are more toward cost transformation, a little customer experience, and the cloud. Tech Mahindra launched a cloud Blazetech platform to help tap the next phase of cloud opportunities.

The basics have been done, the cloud is set, and Enterprise Business Applications have improved, and “now the movement is about applying,” he says. He adds that industrial applications are getting developed. Mitra expects cloud applications in customer connect, production, manufacturing, banking, and healthcare-related solutions. Tech Mahindra reported the highest headcount reduction among IT companies in the third quarter of FY23, down by 6,844 from the previous quarter.
