Square Enix Japan announced that it was launching its first web3 game, Symbiogenesis, on Polygon.com. The game will be available for PC, Mac, and Linux. Square Enix fans complained about the adverse effects of blockchain technology on the environment. “Leveraging the Polygon network also allows us to ensure that Symbiogenesis is highly sustainable,” the company said in an emailed press release.
Square Enix, which produced hit franchises such as Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts, reported 3652 billion Japanese yen (US$2 billion net sales as of 31 mars 2022). Sega and Konami announced blockchain initiatives in Japan in October last year. PM Fumio Kishida said Japan would promote digital economic transformation.
