DraftKings Marketplace Debuts Gamified NFT Collection in NFL

The National Football League Players Association (NFLPA) is to launch NFTs of the National Football League in collaboration with DraftKings Marketplace. The official announcement stated the debut of a non-fungible token on the DraftKings Marketplace during the 2022-2023 NFL season. Introducing NFT-based games in association with sports betting operator DraftKings Inc., fans can play featuring their favorite players at the start of next year.

OneTeam helped devise the agreement between NFLPA and DraftKings, ensuring that the latter has an official license to use names and images of active NFL players. Beth Beiriger, senior vice president of product operations for DraftKings Marketplace, emphasized that the future of fandom is promising. He further added, “Few organizations outside of DraftKings are equipped to capitalize on the increasing intersection between sports and NFTs that will be cornerstones of engagement and entertainment within Web 3.0.”

Collaborating with Autograph, an NFT platform co-founded by Tom Brady, DraftKings Marketplace debuted the Brady NFT collection in August. Also, he awarded 1 BTC for the 600th touchdown pass, displaying his support for cryptocurrency. As per the official statement, customers can trade over the Polygon network and use them against other players in the virtual world.

Sean C. Sansiveri, head of commercial affairs at NFL Players Inc., also serving NFLPA’s marketing and licensing department said that the purpose of DraftKings NFT experience is to build stronger connections with true fans. Lately, NFL teamed up with Ticketmaster as well. The purpose is to give fans improved connections with their favorite players by leveraging blockchain technology.
