S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart pf Chernobyl is undeniably one of the greatest releases of 2022, and it will feature the biggest trend of the year: non-fungible tokens.

GSC Game World will let the community own a piece of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 using blockchain technology. Also, an opportunity to become the first-ever metahuman, a non-human character rendered in high detail, will be provided by GSC Game World. The company partners with the NFT platform DMarket for the new items.

Players will be required to bid for an NFT offering during the auction in January 2022 to become the metahuman. When someone owns the NFT, they will be able to trade it until a certain date after the auction.

GSC Game World CEO Evgeniy Grygorovych tells how the process of owning this NFT in the game will work:

The idea behind this NFT is to give the right of identity creation to the owner. The person has to come to the studio for the scanning process, and they will have him appear in the game as one of the characters.

While GSC Game World plans to release other NFTs in addition to the metahuman, the company has declined to reveal its other goals. A press release said that the NFT drops wouldn’t influence the gameplay and not give any in-game advantages.

People may still be skeptical about NFTs, but game makers eagerly explore the concept. The announcement of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 NFTs comes after the Ubisoft news of bringing NFT gear to Ghost Recon: Breakpoint.
