Axie Infinity’s Monthly Player Count Drops to Low Since November 2020

As a result of selling $4.26 billion in non-fungible tokens, the play-to-earn game Axie Infinity has seen a drop in monthly player counts since November 2020, a span of 26 months. The project’s native token, AXS, has climbed 62% against the U.S. dollar during the last 30 days despite its low player count.

According to activeplayer.io statistics, Axie Infinity once had millions of monthly players, peaking in January 2022 at 2.78 million. With January yet to end, 432,001 players have been online. During Dec. 2022, there were 468,805 players, a low not seen in two years, since Nov. 2020.

From Oct. 2021 to May 2022, Axie averaged two million monthly players. After May, Axie had 1,202,210 fewer players. Axie’s monthly player count stayed above 700,000 for four months, but dropped to 556,058 in November.

It was also a dismal month in 2022 and 2023. NFT sales for Sky Mavis have totaled $4.26 billion, more than top NFT markets such as Magic Eden, Looksrare, X2Y2, Rarible, and Atomicmarket.

According to data from cryptoslam.io, Axie’s Ronin chain sales saw a 41% increase over the last 30 days compared to the previous month. Ronin sales over the last 30 days totaled $1,418,842, and Ronin is the ninth-largest blockchain in terms of monthly sales this month. Axie Infinity’s native token, AXS, has performed well this month, increasing by 62% against the U.S. dollar over the last 30 days.
