Indian Ministry is hosting this meeting with stakeholders in the industry. Some of them said safe harbor would enable an open internet. This meeting is revising the 23-year-old Technology law.
New laws must specifically focus on online safety with guidelines to promote effective prosecution of perpetrators, some stakeholders said. The bill will also propose a regulation for the digital space and specify penal consequences for flouting rules. The meeting also discussed a possible future of virtual spaces, i.e., metaverse.
